This post will explain how a Power BI Developer may leverage existing Power BI datasets as a data source in their new report. Additionally, programmers can create a Composite Model, a hybrid dataset, using local datasets. A dataset can be marked as Endorsed or Certified if the owner, developer, or architect wants to make it accessible to all developers. The following parts describe a step-by-step procedure.
Endorse:
Promotion:
Promoting content is a way to draw attention to the content you believe is beneficial for others to use. It promotes the shared usage and dissemination of content inside an organization.
When individuals feel the content should be shared, any content owner and any user with write access to the workspace where the content is housed may promote it.
Certification:
Certification signifies that the content satisfies company’s data or other requirements and is fit for usage within the organization. Content may only be certified by authorized reviewers (as permitted by the Power BI administrator for that content).
Currently, endorsing is available for:
- Datasets
- Dataflows
- Reports
- Apps
Promote Content:
To promote content, you need write permissions to the workspace where the content is located.
- Go to the settings of the content you want to promote.
- Expand the endorsement section and select Promoted.
Steps to Certify Content:
Certify:
- Get write access to the workspace containing the material you wish to certify. These rights can be obtained from the content owner or anybody with admin access to the workspace.
- After carefully reviewing the content to ensure that it fits with corporate regulations, navigate to the workspace where it is stored, and then access the settings for the content you wish to certify.
- Click Apply.
Request to Certify:
Follow the procedures below if you want to certify your material but are not permitted to do so.
- Go to the workspace where the material you wish to certify is hosted, and then click Settings.
- Extend the section on endorsements. Because you are not permitted to certify material, the Certified button is greyed out. Click the link to learn how to certify your material.
